Silver amalgam fillings are not done in our clinic , this is mainly due to the controversy regarding mercury toxicity, and the metallic colour, which are non- cosmetic.

POSTERIOR RESTORATIONS(BACK TEETH FILLINGS)
After the entry of tooth coloured restoration material that are as strong as or perhaps stronger than amalgam fillings, composite resin fillings are by far the material of choice in posterior teeth, i.e. molars and premolars.
They don’t tarnish or corrode or discolour the tooth. Moreover, due to their highly perishable nature and there being directly bonded to tooth, the margins of the fillings are so well adapted to the tooth making it virtually impossible to see where the fillings ends and the tooth starts.
